Collaborate with us on the LifeWebs database!
If you have data that you think might be suitable, we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for bipartite networks of any interaction types such as host-parasite, plant-herbivore, plant-pollinator, predator-prey, collected from at least one terrestrial site using standardized methodology. If you have such data and can provide us with additional details, the contribution process is simple and easy.
Furthermore, if your networks can be split up, for example by season, study site or plot, feeding guild, or any other factor, then that would be ideal! Please discuss with us in case you are not sure. It is always easier to combine datasets than request the split version from the authors later.
In particular the data we are looking for is as follows:

In particular the data we are looking for is as follows:
- The network matrices can be either quantitative or qualitative.
- Each network should have at least two species on each level.
- Description of the sampling effort and species identifications.
- More instructions could be found in the template and example datasheets below

Authorship and dissemination of data
All contributors of data submitted to the database will be offered authorship of all resulting publications where the datasets will be used. We can offer one authorship per received (and used) dataset per LifeWebs publication, and we could negotiate cases where more than one author per dataset exist. Limits of authors per dataset will relate to the amount of data provided.
We recognize that there may be extremely good reasons for not fully releasing complete datasets, species identities or plot localities in some instances. Hence we offer the option to authors to either publish their full data online, which we still hope the majority will agree to ("public"), or to keep their data private, with only summary information being made available to the public ("private"). We envisage that once the database goes online, there may be data requests from other scientists that may include "private" data that are not publicly accessible. Once a data request has been made to the LifeWebs team, we will circulate this request to the all authors of "private" data, who will have the chance to opt in to the collaboration. By using this dual approach we hope to encourage contribution of as many datasets as possible.

Take-down policy
If we are notified of a potential breach of copyright, or violation of any law, the dataset will be removed from the database as quickly as possible pending further investigation. Where the grounds for complaint are found to be valid, the complete dataset will be permanently deleted.
If you have discovered any material in the LifeWebs database which you consider to breach copyright or any other law, please contact us with your contact details, the details of the dataset or relevant portion of the dataset and the nature of your complain. Please, also confirm that you are the rights owner if you complain about breach of copyright.
